MRI on Brunson’s knee clean; still out Tuesday

An MRI on Jalen Brunson‘s left knee came back clean but the New York Knicks star guard will still be out for Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Brunson went down with what first appeared to be a serious knee injury early in the Knicks’ win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. However, the Knicks announced after the game it was just a knee contusion.

Thibodeau said Brunson’s knee is feeling better but that the team is taking a cautious approach.

“It’s a lot better than it was but we just want to make sure that he’s completely ready,” he said before Tuesday’s game. “… he had an MRI, everything came back good.”

Brunson, 27, is averaging 27.2 points this season and has been carrying the Knicks during a rash of key injuries.
