NBA, NBA All-Star Game

USA vs World format could be coming to the NBA All-Star Game

Adam Silver is considering changing the NBA All-Star Game once again with a unique USA vs the World format reportedly on the table.

As the Nuggets have taken a 3-1 lead over the Heat in the NBA Finals, it is time to transition to the offseason. The NBA may change polices and formats for the All-Star Game along with the usual team-by-team roster changes. What could those changes by? What will the changes mean for the NBA?

As reported by Marc Stein, the NBA is considering changing the All-Star Game format once again after low overall interest by fans and players under the current player-draft format. The change could involve a USA vs World format.

NBA All-Star Game could be changed to USA vs World

Adam Sliver spoke about this being an option pregame before Game 3 of the Finals.

Under these new rules, the International squad would probably the better team. The International team could be led by the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo or Luka Doncic. The American squad could be led by Lebron James and Stephen Curry.

As it currently seems, the Top 5 players in the league will most likely be international players, not players born in the USA.

This new format could just what is needed to make the All-Star game a more entertaining game. The game has been suffering from a lack of competition. Adding nationalistic pride into the game may be what is needed to make the game more competitive which would make it more entertaining for viewers to watch.

This may not be a change that works at first. But if the international players have pride in their country (which it seems like they due to the fact that they are more likely to commit to international games than US players) it could turn the All-StarGgame around. If one team is taking it seriously, the other team could in turn take it seriously to avoid embarrassment.
