Mike Brown is second all time in coaching playoff wins for Kings

It took exactly two playoff wins for Mike Brown to etch his name into the Sacramento Kings’ franchise record books. And he’s not done yet.

After only coaching two games for the Kings, Coach Mike Brown is, incredibly, already second on the leaderboard all-time for playoff wins by a Kings coach. This record speaks more to the history of the Kings. Since moving to Sacramento, they have only made the playoffs 11 times and haven’t really been able to have much success as a franchise.

First place on the list is Rick Adelman with a 34-35 record. Behind Brown are only two other coaches — Garry St. Jean and Phil Johnson.St Jean has one win and Johnson has none. A lot of Aldelman’s success came from the early 2000s when the Kings were led by Chris Webber and company.

During those days, the Kings were able to get to the top of the West before getting beaten by Kobe Bryant and Shaq. The infamous 2001 Western Conference Finals is still controversial as the reffing in that series heavily favored the Lakers and there have been conspiracy theories that the league office wanted the Lakers to win.

Mike Brown could add to his Kings playoff record this year

After beating the Warriors twice and putting Curry and Company on their heels, with a chance to push them to the brink win tomorrow, this stat shouldn’t really be mentioned. The Kings have been able to keep pace and even control the Warriors in this series and that is the reason that they are up 2-0.

This series has a chance to be the Kings’ coming out party for a national audience. The Kings were seen by the lower seeds in the west as a team that was beatable. Through two games, that hasn’t rung true at all. The Kings face off against the Warriors on the road for Game 3 on Thursday and the noise for this team could get louder if they are able to beat the Warriors on the road.
