Raptors vs. Hornets prediction and odds for Sunday, April 2 (Fade Raptors based on key trend)

The Toronto Raptors are looking to pass the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference, which would give them two shots to win a play-in tournament game and make the postseason.

They have a favorable road matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, who didn’t have Gordon Hayward in the lineup on Friday night.

If Hayward misses this game, the Hornets are going to have a hard time catching up on offense but there is a key trend that makes the Raptors a tough bet.

Let’s break down that trend, and the latest odds for this game:

Raptors vs. Hornets prediction and pick

The Raptors should win this game, hence why they are favored by 13 points, but I don’t trust them to cover in this matchup.

Toronto is one of the worst teams in the NBA as a road favorite, going 2-11 against the spread this season.

The Hornets have been a dumpster fire this season, but the team has played spoiler over the final weeks of the season, winning two games against the Dallas Mavericks and one over the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are both fighting for play-in spots in the West.

Toronto can’t take this matchup lightly, even if Hayward sits. Charlotte has been blown out a few times by solid teams like New Orleans and Philly, but the Raptors aren’t an elite team to bet on, going 38-37-2 ATS this season.

This is a few too many points to lay on the road.
