Timberwolves vs. Kings prediction and odds for Monday, March 27

With Karl-Anthony Towns back on the floor, the Minnesota Timberwolves have won their last two games, part of a three-game win streak that they’re riding through northern California right now. Just yesterday, KAT hit the game winning three with 10 seconds left to beat the Warriors at the Chase Center. Towns only had 14 points on the night, but Naz Reid had 23 off the bench for Minnesota.

The Warriors are the defending champions, but Sacramento might be an even bigger test than Golden State, especially with zero days rest. The Timberwolves are 38-37, in seventh in the West and the Kings are 45-29, and in third. Let’s take a look at the odds for the Timberwolves and the Kings in Sacramento tonight. Will the Kings light the beam?

Timberwolves vs. Kings prediction and pick

Against Golden State, we finally got to take a look at the Timberwolves with Rudy Gobert, KAT, and Anthony Edwards all on the floor together. The experiment went pretty well even though none of their “big 3” had a particularly impressive game. A win over the Warriors is a big deal when it’s at the Chase Center, so maybe Minnesota will put something together as the postseason approaches. If they keep winning, they could even avoid the Play-In Tournament.

The Timberwolves just got more offensive juice with KAT and that’s good because they’ll need it against the No. 1 offensive team in the league. The Kings are first in offensive rating for the year and second in the month of March, so they aren’t falling off on that end at all. However, Sacramento is 28th in defensive rating this month. For Minnesota to win they’re going to have to outscore Sacramento because nobody can stop them.

The Kings have a lot of perimeter options that can create huge issues for Gobert and Towns lineups which aren’t switchable and have to play drop coverage. It’ll be especially difficult if De’Aaron Fox is healthy enough to play. However, on the other side, the Kings don’t have any defensive answers for Towns. Frankly, they haven’t had an answer for anyone on that end of the court for most of the season. The over is 4-1 in Sacramento’s last five games and with Minnesota on the second night of a back-to-back I think the defense struggles. That’ll be my pick for this one.
