Is Steph Curry playing tonight? Injury update for Warriors vs Thunder

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is currently dealing with a left leg injury. For fans wondering if he will play on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, we have the answer.

The Golden State Warriors‘ NBA championship defense tour has not gotten off to the greatest of starts. As of this writing, they are 27-26 on the season and sit eighth in the Western Conference standings. But they received some tough news in regard to star Stephen Curry.

During the team’s game this past Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks, Curry left the game after his left knee collided with McKinley Wright IV as he drove to the basket. After receiving an x-ray, he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Even though the x-rays were negative, will Curry be able to return to the court for the teams’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, Feb. 6?

Will Steph Curry play in Warriors’ Feb. 6 game against Thunder?

The answer to that question, is no.

On Sunday, the Warriors announced that Curry had suffered partial tears of the superior tibiofibular ligaments and the interosseous membrane. With that, the team officially ruled Curry out for the Thunder game.

As for when Curry will be able to return, that is up in the air. According to ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Curry is expected to be out through the All-Star Game in mid-February. However, the Warriors said that they will have clarity on a timeline to return in the coming days.

This year, Curry averaged 29.4 points, 6.4 assists, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 38 games, while shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from the three-point line.

If you are watching the Warriors host the Thunder on Monday night, Curry will not be active. As for when he’ll return, the team should have a better idea of when he can return. Based off Wojnarowski’s report, it could be after the All-Star Game on Feb. 19.
