Derrick Rose’s layup got stuck on rim in the most Knicks miss ever (Video)

Knicks guard Derrick Rose had a layup balance perfectly behind the rim for a miss that felt uniquely fitting for New York fans.

There are dozens of missed baskets during every NBA game but some of them are a lot more impressive than others. After Friday night’s Derrick Rose layup miss, Knicks fans should petition the league to award points to the rarest of those misses.

Somehow, Rose managed to get a layup stuck on the back of the rim against the Pistons.

And we’re not talking about the old ball-jammed-between-the-backboard-and-the-rim kind of stuck. We’re talking ball-balanced-on-the-back-of-the-rim kind of stuck.

Rose could actively try to stick the ball in the spot and would probably have trouble doing it. Having that happen in the middle of a game is the worst kind of luck.

The good news for the Knicks is that the miss wasn’t all for naught. Rose drew a foul and got to take two free throws. It was just a slight gust of wind away from being a three-point opportunity.

Rose came off the bench against Detroit and made a big impact. He had six points at halftime along with an assist, leading his team at +12 in the box plus/minus. The Knicks led 68-58.

RJ Barrett wasn’t messing around in the first half. He led all scorers with 20 points with four rebounds and two assists at the break.

Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pistons with 15 points during the early stages of the game.

The Knicks came into Friday’s action at 5-6. They started the season 3-1 but they’ve lost five of their last seven. They sit in third place in the Atlanta Division as a result. They could do without too many more freak misses this season.
