Dunking on Luka Doncic was the highlight of Andrew Wiggins’ championship run with Warriors

Golden State Warriors star Andrew Wiggins enjoyed nothing more than dunking on Luka Doncic during his championship run with the eventual 2022 NBA champions.

Andrew Wiggins has had quite the year, and it almost didn’t even happen: Wiggins says that he wishes he didn’t get the COVID-19 vaccine, but he’s glad he did because he became an All-Star and an NBA champion as a result.

Wiggins also thinks that if the Cleveland Cavaliers never traded him, he likely would have been able to win a championship alongside LeBron James. Alas, everything fell into place for the eight-year veteran during the 2021-22 season as the 27-year-old shooting guard enjoyed the best basketball of his career.

Wiggins’ dominance was perhaps best exemplified by his posterizing dunks, which humiliated the likes of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Memphis Grizzlies power forward Brandon Clarke, among others. When FanSided’s Mark Carman asked Wiggins about his favorite dunk of them all, the answer was simple: the one on the perennial NBA MVP candidate.

“Honestly, I’ll say the one on Luka. Just because, at the moment, it was at in the game, you know: it was crunch time, there was a lot going on, it was intense. And Luka, he’s one of the best players in the league…he’s a superstar. It was great.”

When the dunk happened back in May, it immediately joined elite NBA company: it was being compared to a Baron Davis dunk for the Warriors back in 2007.

About 3,500 Warriors fans weighed in on the dunk comparison, and Andrew Wiggins emerged the victor. It turns out that not only was this Wiggins’ favorite dunk of the playoffs, but it was a fan favorite among Bay Area fans, too.

Dubs fans can also appreciate the fact that Wiggins will remain with Golden State in the coming year after losing fan favorites like Gary Payton II and Otto Porter Jr.
