Dwyane Wade reacts to Erik Spolestra comparing him to Jimmy Butler

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade is clearly supporting Jimmy Butler in the playoffs with a ringing endorsement of his 3-point shot.

The Miami Heat are currently on a hot streak to open up the NBA Playoffs, boasting a 2-0 record over the Atlanta Hawks.

Yet no player shines quite as brightly as Jimmy Butler, who put up a flawless 45-point performance in a 115-105 win over the Hawks in Game 2.

Butler joins Miami Heat royalty with his historic playoff performance, coming in one point behind Dwyane Wade’s iconic 46-point game against the Boston Celtics in 2010. Unsurprisingly, the Wade-Butler Heat playoff comparisons came flowing in, and Wade sees no lies when it comes to comparing these two Miami greats.

Dwyane Wade fully endorses Jimmy Butler playoff comparison

AllUCanHeat’s Richard Nurse makes a clear case for just how much Wade’s impact is still being felt in today’s NBA.

Nurse detailed how Wade inspired DeMar Derozan, is compared to Victor Oladipo, and has been a mentor to Butler, among others.

“In a way, Wade personally decided who he wanted to take over the reins when he retired in Miami,” Nurse said. “He knew full well that Butler’s personality would fit with Heat’s team mindset.”

Dwyane Wade has made it clear that he wanted Butler to take over his throne in Miami, and Butler has found a way to even surpass Wade in certain regards.

Toward the end of Wade’s career, he played alongside Butler in Chicago and pushed for the Heat to secure Butler away from the Bulls. Wade has long believed in Butler’s skills and saw him as an ideal fit for Miami, and in 2022, Jimmy Butler is busy proving just how prolific he can be in the postseason.
