Grayson Allen explains his brutal Alex Caruso foul in Discord chat

Milwaukee Bucks wing Grayson Allen explained his actions that resulted in a flagrant 2 foul against injured Bulls point guard Alex Caruso.

Grayson Allen has already been handed out a suspension for the NBA for his latest on-court misdeed as the Bucks wing will be out for Milwaukee’s next game. However, the discussion around the foul that led to it continues.

When Allen twisted an airborne Alex Caruso into a fall that broke his wrist, those looking onward noticed how the fourth-year guard seemed to be snickering at Caruso’s pain.

But according to Allen, he was never laughing at Caruso. Allen said in a Discord chat that he was laughing at a joke a teammate uttered and that he wasn’t “laughing at the foul.”

Allen clarified that he wish he’d never made the initial play and that he reached out to Caruso the next day to apologize.

“It was very unfortunate how it played out,” Allen wrote, explaining how he was reaching for the ball instead of trying to knock him down. “If I could do the play over again knowing he’d fall like that, I wouldn’t make the play.”

It’s difficult to discern the sincerity of Allen’s Discord apology, considering the discord he’s caused on the court in the past.

Allen has a history of dirty plays dating back to his days at Duke, which is something that the Bulls commentary team took note of following the foul.

Bulls head coach Billy Donovan noted that Allen’s actions could have ended Caruso’s career.

Allen has been suspended one game for the foul, while Caruso is now expected to be out for six to eight weeks. Even though players have been suspended for egregious fouls and fights earlier in the season, the Bucks publicly disagreed with the suspension, an uncommon move for any NBA team.

Even though the Bucks believe the suspension is unwarranted, basketball fans are calling for Allen to be kicked out of the NBA — and that even includes Duke fans.
