LOOK: Isaiah Thomas hits buzzer-beater for Team USA in FIBA World Cup qualifiers

The United States national basketball team needed a strong showing from Isaiah Thomas. Thankfully, Thomas showed up and had some late game heroics to secure victory for Team USA.

Isaiah Thomas may not be in the NBA at the moment, but that doesn’t mean his basketball career is quite over and it doesn’t mean he isn’t still finding ways to make an impact for the team that he’s playing for.

Thomas is currently on the Team USA roster for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. To get the qualifying process started, the Americans were tasked with a test from Cuba.

Thankfully for the US men’s national team, Thomas was able to have a solid performance throughout the game and cap things off with an impressive buzzer-beater that secured the win for the Americans.

Thomas’ basketball career has taken a long, winding road over recent years. The 32-year-old was once leading the Boston Celtics and putting his team in contention for a spot in the NBA Finals. Unfortunately for Thomas, the Celtics moved on and he hasn’t quite had the same sort of opportunities since.

But he’s got a pretty good shot to make some highlights and headlines now. It’s not quite the same as the NBA, but it’s still an opportunity to play basketball at a high level.
