Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans

NBA Rumors: Lakers interested in bringing Lonzo Ball back to Los Angeles?

Lonzo Ball is a free agent with plenty of options this offseason, but there’s one that stands out as perhaps his best bet for success.

The opportunity to make a move out of New Orleans, a franchise that is perpetually rebuilding, certainly seems enticing for Lonzo Ball.

Ball has tried to calm the nerves of fans on the bayou when it comes to what this upcoming NBA offseason will bring, but that doesn’t mean the option to spread his wings and fly away from the Pelicans isn’t still on the table.

He could, if you will, Fly Away Home in free agency.

A return to the Los Angeles has been talked about as the offseason rumor mill begins to spin faster and faster, but if Lonzo does return it probably won’t be for the Clippers even though that idea has been thrown out there.

Rather, imagine Lonzo making a triumphant return to the Lakers.

Lakers Rumors: Will Lonzo Ball return?

The Athletic has been throwing out some pretty viable options in regards to Zo’s future, be it the Bulls or the even Clippers. But the Lakers just feels right for him for a ton of reasons. Be it familiarity because of his time playing there (but let’s not dwell too much on those days), the fact that it would be a true homecoming to where he laid original roots, or the fact that LeBron and Anthony Davis can push back to their true positions and rock out, the opportunities are endless.

Plus, how much do you think LaVar would love for his son to be back in a city that he can truly market himself, even if he’s (supposedly) not providing that level of advice to him anymore.

While we don’t know what the future could hold for Lonzo Ball, the opportunity to return home to where it all started and mature with his game sounds like a sweet deal that you just can’t pass up.
