NBA Playoffs, Portland Trail Blazers

Damian Lillard posts cryptic message on Instagram after Blazers’ playoff defeat

Damian Lillard leaves a cryptic message on an Instagram post after the Portland Trail Blazers’ latest postseason exit.

Not long after the Portland Trail Blazers were eliminated from the 2021 NBA Playoffs by the division rival Denver Nuggets, star point guard Damian Lillard posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account.

Lillard has spent his entire NBA career out of Weber State with the Trail Blazers. While he has become the best player to play for them since Clyde Drexler, his two rhetorical questions on his Instagram post have to make us wonder if he is going to eventually leave the Rose City like “The Glide” did to win a title? Though Lillard has put in the work, the timing has yet to be in his favor.

How concerned should Trail Blazers fans be about Lillard’s latest post on Instagram?

Damian Lillard’s cryptic message on Instagram should have Blazers fans worried

Lillard might be under contract for the next four seasons, but the soon-to-be 31-year-old point guard may force a trade out of town. The six-time NBA All-Star and five-time All-NBA performer has done seemingly everything in the league but get to the Finals and win one. Though he has remained adamant about staying put, Portland has no choice but to build a new team around him.

This probably means his back-court mate CJ McCollum‘s time in Portland has come to an end. The front office can no longer deny they have a redundancy at both starting guard spots. Head coach Terry Stotts may be out of a job as well. While Lillard can win a championship in Portland, he will have to do that with a new supporting cast built around him, one that will play some defense.

Lillard may be a Portland lifer, but his latest Instagram post should indicate changes are coming.
