Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets

Jamal Murray ejected for cheap shot on Tim Hardaway Jr. (Video)

Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was ejected for hitting Tim Hardaway Jr. low during Monday night’s contest.

On Monday night, the Denver Nuggets were looking to rise up to fourth place in the Western Conference with a win against the Dallas Mavericks. The victory didn’t come easy, as one of their star players was tossed from game.

In the third quarter, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was knocked down on the court after a collision with Mavericks swingman Tim Hardaway Jr. As Murray got up off the floor, he hit Hardaway directly in the groin. After a video review, the point guard was handed a Flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game.

Nuggets win with Murray’s early exit

Murray looked to be giving his best impersonation of Hall-of-Fame professional wrestler Ric Flair, aka “the dirtiest player in the game,” with that low blow. Maybe Murray will enter the Royal Rumble this upcoming Sunday? That’s going to be a no, since the Nuggets play the Utah Jazz that day.

Luckily for the Nuggets, they were able to pull out the 117-113 win, thanks to a tremendous performance put up by Michael Porter Jr. Coming off the bench, Porter recorded 30 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while shooting 10-of-18 from the field and 6-of-10 from the 3-point line.

As for Murray, he scored 16 points (7-of-11 from the field), hauled in 3 rebounds and recorded 2 assists in 25 minutes of playing time.

The Nuggets will look to extend their win streak to five games on Friday when they face off against the Miami Heat.
