Damian Lillard campaigned for Blazers to trade for Draymond Green

Per a report, Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard has pushed for the organization to try and trade for Draymond Green.

For years now, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has solidified himself as one of the best shooters in the game. Night in and night out, Lillard shoot lights out and drills buckets from all over the court.

Yet, it’s been no secret that some of his best years have been wasted by Portland, as they haven’t quite done enough to help him out with a championship-level supporting cast. Lillard of course wants that to change, as he’s ready to try and push for an NBA Finals title.

In order to get that done, he’s reportedly been pushing for the front office to make a move. More specifically, Lillard has his eyes on Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green. Per NBC Sports Bay Area, The Athletic’s Sam Amick discussed the possibility on a recent podcast.

“If we were handicapping Draymond trade destinations if the Warriors decided to blow it up…that’s the one. Damian and his group have for the last couple years been campaigning for that.”

Getting Green to Portland sure would be something, as his defensive abilities alone would really help out this Portland side. For Lillard, it’d be huge to get a player of Green’s caliber on the roster, and it would also show to him that the team is ready to back him in his hopes of bringing a title to the Moda Center.

The Warriors aren’t just going to send him packing, though. Golden State has hopes of pushing for an NBA Finals title this season themselves and Green will play a big role in making that happen. At the same time, should the Warriors end up falling out of contention, they could look to get rid of Green’s massive contract.

For Lillard and the Blazers, it could be a wait and see kind of situation. If he does end up making his way to Oregon, Lillard would surely be ecstatic with the move.
