Nuggets fans are big mad after team left Melo out of legendary players graphic

The Denver Nuggets made the mistake of leaving Carmelo Anthony off their legendary players graphic.

That was just petty, Denver Nuggets.

Now that the NBA offseason is upon us, team social media accounts have to find a way to pass the days and weeks leading up to the draft and free agency. The Nuggets chose to try and stir up some fan interaction but did so in a highly disrespectful way.

In a Twitter graphic with the question “Who is your favorite Nugget of all-time?” the Nuggets included images of Nikola Jokic, Alex English, Dikembe Mutombo, Chauncey Billups and Nick Van Exel.

Notably missing from said graphic? Oh, just one of the greatest scorers in NBA and Denver Nuggets history, Carmelo Anthony.

The disrespect from the Denver Nuggets was very real

On the one hand, you can defend Denver’s decision not to include Melo on the basis that the question is “who is your favorite Nugget of all-time?” rather than “who is the greatest Nugget of all-time?”

On the other hand, screw that.

Melo was beloved during his time in Denver, and even with the ugly way that relationship ended as he forced his way to the New York Knicks, that was almost a decade ago now! It’s not like he won a championship there either. Anthony has played for several other teams since then, the Nuggets have been in a great, competitive place for years thanks in part to that trade. Bygones should be bygones.

So why is the Nuggets team account trying to act like Melo’s career in Denver never happened? NBA Twitter certainly wasn’t a fan of that blatant cheap shot:

Melo is probably more than ready to bury the hatchet, but thanks to pettiness like this, the dude might as well retire as a Knick at this rate!

You know it’s bad when even his former head coach George Karl — who’s thrown Melo under the bus multiple times in the past — is out here defending his former superstar in the wake of such rudeness.

Props to the Portland Trail Blazers, Melo’s most recent team, who fired back with their own graphic asking “who is your favorite Blazer of all-time?” that included Brandon Roy, Damian Lillard, Clyde Drexler, Bill Walton … and Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony played a grand total of 58 regular-season games in his Portland career, so you know this Rip City graphic was created solely as a response to bring Melo his proper dues. And we respect the hell out of the Blazers for it.
