Serge Ibaka reprimanded Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry for taking a technical foul in Game 5.
The Toronto Raptors made a miraculous comeback in their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Boston Celtics. Initially down 2-0, the Raptors came back to tie things up at two wins apiece. The defending NBA champions appeared to have all the momentum entering Game 5 on Monday, but the Celtics reawakened and humbled the Raptors with a 111-89 win.
During the third quarter of the game, Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry was called for a technical foul when the team was facing a 83-58 deficit. Center Serge Ibaka couldn’t help but scold his teammate, screaming on the court, “Come on man, we’re losing!”
To further add salt to the wound, the Celtics bench began erupting in cheers in an all-time savage move.
The Raptors never stood a chance in Game 5
Lowry didn’t have the greatest performance on Monday, as he shot 3-for-8 from the field for a grand total of 10 points, while recording five assists and two rebounds. To make matters worse, Lowry led the team with three turnovers in 34 minutes of action.
As for Serge Ibaka, he shot 50 percent from the field while recording seven points and four rebounds coming off the bench.
The Raptors were flying high after OG Anunoby’s clutch 3-pointer in the waning seconds of Game 3 eventually lifted them back into the series. While this temporary flare up between two teammates and fierce competitors shouldn’t be overblown, the Raptors will not only need to shore up their performance, but their discipline in the face of potential elimination in Game 6 as well.
