Kyle Lowry was banged up after a legendary Game 6.
The Toronto Raptors needed 58 minutes to get the job done, but Kyle Lowry, Nick Nurse, and the rest of the Canadians evened their Eastern Conference Semifinals series with the Boston Celtics at 3-3 after edging out Jayson Tatum and company in a 125-122 win. Kyle Lowry, both literally and figuratively, put his blood, sweat, and tears into pulling out a win for the Raptors.
Lowry revealed after this bloodbath that he picked up some nasty battle scars, as he got stitches on his chin following a Game 6 that ended in double-overtime. Despite the blood, it doesn’t look like Lowry will miss the pivotal Game 7 as a result of this injury.
Kyle Lowry led the Raptors to a clutch Game 6 win
On a night where Pascal Siakam didn’t have his best stuff and it seemed like none of Fred VanVleet’s shots were falling, the 34-year-old Lowry showed that on any given night, he can still be one of the best clutch performers in the league. Lowry piled up 33 points while grabbing eight rebounds and six assists, numbers that no Raptors player in history has ever recorded in a playoff game.
After last night, Lowry now owns three of the five best scoring performances in elimination games in franchise history. Sure, he might’ve split his chin wide open during this performance, but it got Toronto a win against a tough Boston team, and that’s all that matters.
This Raptors-Celtics series has been as evenly matched as possible, as both teams are expertly coached and rely on depth to pull away in close games. If the Raptors are to win this series, Lowry needs to once again bring his A-game. After a buzzer-beater in Game 3 and double overtime in Game 6, who knows what surprises are in store in Game 7?
