LeBron shows up rocking the new Liverpool kit

Just after debuting a new look for 2020, LeBron James repped his support for Liverpool.

It was nine years ago now when LeBron James invested in Liverpool FC. He’s been to Anfield once or twice and an outspoken supporter of the club since putting his money into it.

Just after Liverpool revealed its new home kit for the upcoming season, James showed off his own, well before the public can get their hands on it in an ultimate flex of his connections.

At the time, James made a mere $6.5 million investment in Liverpool, 2 percent of the club, that has grown exponentially since. With a Champions League victory last season and a Premier League title just a few weeks ago, Liverpool’s value has surged into the billions.

With a current estimate of over $1.5 billion, James’ 2 percent is now worth tens of millions. Considering the money Liverpool has made him, the least LeBron can do is wear the club’s new kit.

What are your thoughts on Liverpool’s new kit?

Liverpool’s kit has a unique look this season, abandoning New Balance for the Swoosh, finally enabling the King to don his club’s crest due to his lifetime deal with the brand. The red primary color and Standard Chartered sponsorship remains, but the sharp white and green bordering gives quite a Christmas vibe to this year’s kit.

It’s a return to the club’s crest itself though, with the green being absent from recent seasons in favor of gold fire accents instead. It makes sense for this season specifically as the club’s EPL trophy has brought back memories of decades ago for many of its supporters.

You have to wonder if James did pull any strings in getting Liverpool to join the Nike family. Whether or not, he wasted no time in showing his support after the new deal.
