Watch Lonzo Ball lift weights in quarantine with the worst form ever

Lonzo Ball shared video of himself working out and the internet, collectively, winced at his awkward form.

If you’re into watching athletes workout on Instagram, this time of quarantine and social distancing has been a golden era. Not every player has hoops and weights at their homes but those who do have nothing to do but channel their frustrations into putting on some density. Whether it’s for clout or to intimidate opponents, those workouts are sure to end up on social media.

Which brings us to New Orleans Pelicans’ guard Lonzo Ball, doing shoulder and bench presses (in the Ball family rumpus room) shirtless and snarling.

Ball has certainly benefited from added muscle since joining the league but he might be better off taking a breather right now. As documented by pretty much everyone on Twitter who has ever been in the gym before, Ball’s form on those shoulder presses is atrocious to the point of being dangerous. If this is how Ball is lifting weights regularly it’s only a matter of time before he hurts himself, seriously.

Honestly, this looks like me, in ninth grade, trying to get swole in the empty weight room at my tiny local YMCA. The difference is, I had never lifted weights before and there was no one around to point out my inexperienced buffoonery. Surely Ball has worked out with a trainer at some point? Surely someone has explained how important form is? And all the screaming after his shoulder and bench sets, is that from an endorphin rush? Or the steadily increasing diffuse pain in his lower back?

The NBA is determined to make sure there are no health risks for players before opening their practice facilities. In the case of Ball, there appear to be some serious health risks for him staying at home too.
