With the preseason winding down, it’s time to play buy or sell with 10 early trends we might see during the upcoming 2019-20 NBA season.

Strictly speaking from an on-court perspective, preseason basketball might be the most carefree, joyful part of the entire NBA calendar.

NBA Summer League is entertaining, since it usually provides our first glimpse at the new rookie class, but the games feature too many G League-caliber talents to be taken seriously, it’s becoming more and more common for headlining rookies to sit out altogether to avoid injury.

Preseason should always be taken with a grain of salt, but at least the notable names are back on the court for the first time in 4-6 months. Coaches are usually hesitant to reveal their true rotations and go-to sets, but every year we see several early trends emerge that are too tantalizing to not talk about.

This year is no different, and because we’ve still got some time to kill before the 2018-19 campaign begins on Tuesday, we might as well examine the biggest trends of the preseason and try to figure out which ones are flukes and which ones are legitimate!

From Zion Williamson‘s dominance and Ben Simmons shooting 3s to the struggles of the Golden State Warriors and guys like Kristaps Porzingis and Markelle Fultz on the comeback trail, it’s time to play buy or sell with 10 major preseason takeaways.
