From the moment I first picked up an NES controller at age four to today, I’ve been obsessed with basketball video games. Whether it be crude early NES basketball games like Double Dribble, NBA Live 95 on Sega Genesis, purchasing a Sega Dreamcast for the sole purpose of NBA 2k or, well, playing NBA 2k20 the day this countdown is published, I’ve made basketball video games an important part of my life.

Thus, I feel I’m uniquely qualified to present this countdown of the 10 best NBA video games of all-time.

For the purposes of this countdown, I’ll be using the criteria of greatness as well as influence. While some of these games had follow-ups that were as good or better, I’m highlighting games that changed and in some cases, revolutionized the basketball video game genre.
