Sources: Rockets signing T. Jones to 10-day deal

LOS ANGELES — The Houston Rockets will sign a pair of G League players to 10-day contracts, including former Houston first-round pick Terrence Jones, league sources told ESPN.

Guard Chris Chiozza, a rookie out of Florida, is the other player the Rockets will sign to bring their roster up to a league-mandated 14 players.

Jones, 27, started 106 games for the Rockets in four seasons after being selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2012 draft. He has career averages of 10.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game but has been out of the NBA since 2016-17, when he had stints with the New Orleans Pelicans and Milwaukee Bucks.

Jones has been dominant for the G League’s Erie BayHawks this season, averaging 23.5 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. He shot 37.9 percent from 3-point range for the BayHawks, a significant improvement over his NBA career clip of 29.9 percent.

Chiozza averaged 13.1 points and 6.8 assists for the Capital City Go-Go. He has been preparing to play for Team USA at the upcoming FIBA qualifiers.

The Rockets plan to assign Jones and Chiozza to their G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, to evaluate them.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski contributed to this report.
