Between stops with the Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin Herd, Christian Wood found time to stop by J. Cole’s Dreamville studio with some teammates.
Milwaukee Bucks assignment player Christian Wood tore up the Windy City Bulls on Wednesday night, dropping 33 points and 12 rebounds en route to a big win for Milwaukee’s G League team, the Wisconsin Herd. About a week earlier, Wood was with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Eric Bledsoe, but not for practice or a Bucks game.
The group of Bucks players visited Dreamville Records as Revenge of the Dreamers III was being recorded. Revenge of the Dreamers III is a collaborative album that the label promoted by sending invites to all sorts of music artists, from rappers to producers and, also, several Milwaukee Bucks players.
As Wood shared on Instagram, he and his teammates got to spend some time with Dreamville founder J. Cole during the trip. After the game against Windy City, Wood shared that the Bucks got to do more than just hang out while they were in the studio.
“J. Cole laid down a few verses, it was dope to see,” Wood said. “Seriously, it was great.”
When asked if was surprised that he and some Bucks players (D.J. Wilson was there too, and the Dreamville Instagram page has plenty of photos documenting some of the cool guests who came through at some point or another) got the invite to the session, Wood replied that the invite made perfect sense.
“[I’m] not surprised at all,” Wood said. “We’re doing a great job this year, number one team in the NBA, number one team in the East. We really just have to keep it up.”
It doesn’t seem as though Wood, Giannis, or any of the other Bucks got to lay down any verses of their own, but I suppose we’ll have to wait until the album comes out to be sure. Wood said that the tracks he heard were “pretty decent” with the sort of sarcastic smile that lets you know the music Milwaukee players heard is something to look forward to.
