Pels’ Davis greeted with mixed reaction in return

NEW ORLEANS — All-Star Anthony Davis, making his return to the Pelicans’ lineup after nine games with a finger injury, was featured prominently on the scoreboard in the middle of the team picture when the Pelicans first came out of the tunnel Friday night.

Last week, following his trade request, Davis had been removed from the team’s pregame video

When Davis’ individual picture came up on the scoreboard Friday, he was cheered by a sparse crowd at Smoothie King Center.

The pre-game video Friday was a little different from the one last week, when Davis was edited out of the roster. Davis wasn’t featured prominently, but he was definitely in there.

At the end, when the team puts up “Do It Big,” the entire roster wasn’t on the image. It was just the words.

When Davis was announced in the starting lineup Friday, there was a mixture of boos and cheers with the boos being a tad louder.
