Ingram has sprained ankle, out at least week

Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram has an ankle sprain, an MRI showed, according to the team.

He will be re-evaluated in a week.

The Lakers are at Memphis on Saturday night, host Miami on Monday and are back on the road Thursday against Houston.

Ingram injured his left ankle in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s win over the San Antonio when he took a jump shot and landed on the foot of Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge was called for a flagrant foul 1 for sticking his foot on the spot where Ingram was going to land.

Ingram sat out Friday’s loss to the Spurs.

On Thursday, coach Luke Walton said he plans to stagger LeBron James‘ and Lonzo Ball‘s minutes as much as possible so Los Angeles always has a steady ball handler on the court.

The second overall pick in 2016, Ingram is averaging 15.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this season.

Information from ESPN’s Dave McMenamin was used in this report.
