The Golden State Warriors have named their successor to Bob Myers, and it’s a name fans are very familiar with.
Bob Myers leaves massive shoes to fill as general manager of the Golden State Warriors, and the latest architect of a proper NBA dynasty. The Warriors have won three titles under Myers’ guidance and he leaves behind plenty of workable pieces to keep the trendline moving upward for the Bay Area organization.
But it won’t be easy to keep things moving with a massive payroll to manage and upcoming decisions to make on key players that were integral to the Warriors’ run of titles over the last several years.
Myers stepped away after this season with his contract expiring. Golden State was left to search for a new name, and on Friday morning, news broke of who they have decided to run with.
The Warriors will hire Mike Dunleavy Jr. as the next general manger, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported early Friday morning.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. started his career in Golden State, playing four and a half seasons with the Warriors from 2007-2007. From there he went on to play for the Pacers, Bulls, Bucks, Hawks and Cavaliers.
Dunleavy was already in the organization serving as Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Warriors, so the move is a promotion for the former guard rather than an outside hire. Dunleavy was first hired in 2018 as a scout, getting promoted to the VP role in 2021.
Wojnarowski said that Dunleavy and Executive VP of Basketball Operations Kirk Lacob will work in tandem on decisions related to the team.
