NBA Trade Rumors, New York Knicks

3 teams that should be calling the Knicks about Cam Reddish

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The Knicks are reportedly looking to trade Cam Reddish and plenty of teams should be interested, even with his struggles this season.

It appears that Cam Reddish’s time with the New York Knicks may be coming to a close. The former lottery pick is 6-of-29 from beyond the arc over his last 10 games and has seen his minutes dwindle. The Knicks are the second team he’s played for in his four-year career and now it appears a third may be on the horizon.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported that the Knicks and Reddish’s agent are working together to try and find a trade. He hasn’t been able to stick with either the Hawks or the Knicks but there are still several teams that should be willing to audition Reddish for a consistent role.

3. Dallas Mavericks could get Luka Doncic some more help

I feel fairly confident in saying Cam Reddish doesn’t really solve any problems for the Dallas Mavericks. At this point, he’s a decently effective wing defender with length and athleticism and not much of a track record at the other end of the floor. That is to say, he’s not going to give the Mavericks anything they aren’t already getting a better version of from Dorian Finney-Smith, Tim Hardaway Jr. or Josh Green.

But, he would have the benefit of being a 23-year-old with upside on the sixth-oldest roster in the league with very few obvious pathways to improvement besides pushing Luka Doncic to the breaking point. In addition, the Mavericks could package Dwight Powell, JaVale McGee and a protected first-round pick to get Derrick Rose as well, who they reportedly may covet.

I realize giving up another pick probably isn’t very palatable to Mavericks fans but their 2025 pick is the earliest one they could trade and at that point Doncic may already be fed up or ground down to a nub. The Knicks don’t have any particular use for McGee or Powell but they apparently don’t have any use for Reddish either and turning Rose into a future first, even a heavily protected one, is probably a win.
