The Minnesota Timberwolves went big, literally, pulling off a trade for Rudy Gobert. The social media comedians used it as motivation for works of pure art.
While everyone was thinking about Kevin Durant, the Minnesota Timberwolves swung for the fences, sending Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Walker Kessler and multiple first-round picks to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Rudy Gobert.
This trade gives the Timberwolves a huge defensive upgrade and a fairly unique twin towers roster construction with Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns. For the Utah Jazz, this looks like a full on rebuild. They still have Donovan Mitchell but picked up four future first-round picks (three unprotected) and a pick swap, without returning any players who are likely to figure in their longterm plans.
