Tyler Herro was destined to have a highlight as the Heat guard’s attempted alley-oop pass to Jimmy Butler ended up being a sick half-court shot.
The Miami Heat have been playing great basketball to start the 2021-22 season and, on Wednesday night, they had a great opportunity to pick up their 10th win of the year as they welcomed the two-win Pelicans to South Beach.
As if that wasn’t already a favorable break for the Heat, guard Tyler Herro showed that luck was truly on Miami’s side on one play in particular.
Late in the third quarter, Herro got the ball on an outlet pass and was looking up the floor. He saw Jimmy Butler cutting for the rim and decided to throw a half-court lob for an alley-oop.
Herro misfired a bit in terms of finding Butler — but not so much in finding the bottom of the net as his errant alley-oop went in for a wild unintentional half-court shot.
Tyler Herro’s accidental half-court shot was a sign it was the Heat’s night.
At the time of that unintentional made shot from Herro, the bucket actually only put the heat up by four points. However, they proved their class over the final 16 minutes of action.
In the end, Miami notched a 113-98 win. Herro contributed 19 points, including the crazy made 3-point attempt, but the star of the night was Butler, who notched a 31-10-10 triple-double after a brief stint on the sideline due to injury.
When you get down to it, the Heat will be happiest with another win to their credit. With that said, there probably won’t be a better, more hilarious single moment in Miami this season than the one Tyler Herro provided.
