Carmelo Anthony is clear that he’s chasing a ring by signing with the Lakers

Carmelo Anthony signed with the Los Angeles Lakers during free agency and there’s one thing on his mind — winning a ring.

Carmelo Anthony has a storied career that seemed as if it was over just a mere year-and-a-half ago. If you would’ve told Anthony that he would have a shot at an NBA title with fellow banana boat friend LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, he never would’ve believed you.

Anthony’s background speaks for itself after winning a national title at Syracuse, a single scoring title with the New York Knicks in 2012-13 and three Olympic gold medals. There’s one thing missing, however, and that’s an NBA championship.

Carmelo Anthony has aspirations of becoming an NBA champion with Lakers

At the age of 37, Anthony proved himself to be a valuable free agent asset after two seasons in Portland. During the 2020-21 season, he shot a career-high 40.9 percent from the three-point line. The Trail Blazers couldn’t get past the first-round of the playoffs during Anthony’s tenure, but he’ll now have as good of a shot as ever to win his first NBA ring.

Anthony told Yahoo Sports: “Now that I’m with the Lakers, it’s a must have. There’s no question about it. We gotta get it. It’s go time now. I gotta think about it every second of the day.”

Anthony was given the second chance that he deserved with Portland and now he gets to play with one of his best friends, King James himself. It’s hard to not root for Anthony to get what he’s after. Not to mention, the Lakers also acquired Russell Westbrook during the offseason and he’s also in the hunt for his first title.

The comeback is always stronger than the setback and there’s one last chapter that needs to be written in Anthony’s career.
