Trae Young gets tossed in WWE Smackdown at Madison Square Garden (Video)

New York Knicks’ enemy Trae Young returned to the Garden on Friday night as a special guest on WWE Smackdown.

Knicks fans hate Trae Young, and the Atlanta Hawks guard doesn’t like them much either. Young’s Hawks were able to take out the Knicks in the first round of the 2020-21 NBA Playoffs despite a solid effort from Tom Thibodeau’s upstart group.

On Friday night, Young return to WWE — a venue he’s familiar with after announcing a pay-per-view event at State Farm Arena earlier this year — to troll some Knicks fans at the Garden. Young did some promo work for the event in Atlanta on New Years’.

“I don’t know about you, but I think New Year’s Trae would be a great name for the event, and I can’t think of a better way to bring in 2022 than with the WWE Universe,” Young said.

Trae Young made an early impact on WWE

Young choked former WWE champion Rey Mysterio, and was caught in the act by the official. Because of this, the NBA star was thrown out, and for good reason.

In the end, WWE was able to cash in on New York’s hatred for Trae. Young also voiced his displeasure for his NBA 2K rating during the match as well.

Essentially, all material was covered and then some.
