Warriors: Steph Curry’s parents reportedly getting divorced

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry’s parents, Dell and Sonya are reportedly getting divorced, per TMZ Sports.

The 55-year-old Sonya reportedly filed for divorce back in mid-June. The couple had been married since 1988.

The two had been seen cheering on their sons, Steph and Seth Curry, from the stands as recently as last season (when allowed due to COVID-19 restrictions). The pair met when they were student-athletes at Virginia Tech in the late 1980’s, and dated shortly thereafter. They were married during Dell’s NBA days.

The elder Curry was a sharpshooter for the Toronto Raptors, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz in a journeyman 16-year career in the Association.

The divorce filing is still ongoing, and neither side has responded to TMZ’s request for comment.

This is sure to be a traumatizing experience for the Curry children, so we respect their privacy during this time. Steph is coming off a first-team All-NBA season with the Warriors, while Seth remains a pivotal bench player for a Philadelphia 76ers squad which won the Eastern Conference regular season in 2020-21.
