Nets trade Landry Shamet to Suns for Jevon Carter and draft pick

The 2021 NBA Draft is just hours away and the trades are rolling in, including a trade for Brooklyn Nets guard Landry Shamet for Phoenix Suns guard Jevon Carter and the 29th pick in tonight’s draft.

T’was the night of the NBA Draft, and all through the league, not a peep of trades were heard, not even from Jeff Teague (it just needed to rhyme, sorry Teague).

That was, until a solid 20 minutes ago when ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski busted the door down with a flurry of trades, from Russell Westbrook joining the Los Angeles Lakers to a move back into the first round of the draft the Brooklyn Nets.

According to Woj, the Nets are sending Landry Shamet to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jevon Carter and the 29th overall pick in Thursday’s draft:

Shamet moves to Phoenix to join Monty Williams, while the Nets rack up five picks overall in the Draft

This wouldn’t be a blind trade though, as ESPN has reported the relationship between Shamet and Suns head coach Monty Williams is definitely a thing. That makes for an easier transition for Shamet and a good opportunity for Brooklyn to fill whatever cracks need to be filled.

But with the Nets holding the No. 27, 29, 44, 49 and 50 overall picks in the draft, they should be a well-sculpted masterpiece next season. While there will definitely be more trades in the near future, here’s to our collective sanity that Woj won’t drop them all at once like he did with this set.
