LeBron James reacts to Warriors losing thanks to Ja Morant’s late-game heroics

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was watching Warriors-Grizzlies like the rest of us, and he was impressed by Ja Morant.

Just days after beating this same Golden State Warriors team by a very narrow margin thanks to his late three-point heave, LeBron James watched Morant do the same on Friday night. For the 21-year-old Morant, it represented a stark difference to his outing against Golden State in the regular season, where he struggled to establish his jumper and was routinely forced into doubles by a stingy Golden State defense.

In overtime, it was two late drives to the bucket by Morant that solidified the Grizzlies’ status as the No. 8 seed. They’ll face the Utah Jazz in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The King was thoroughly impressed by Morant, and although he gave a short message of support, it was exactly how most of us were screaming at our television screens.

LeBron James’ tweet isn’t a shot at the Warriors or Steph Curry

James will always have a friendly rivalry with Curry and the Dubs, but at this point the teams are heading in different directions. Even with a down season, the Lakers will likely be among the favorites to come out of the West again next year.

Curry, meanwhile, has actually formed a bit of a friendship with LeBron over the years. They’ve looked jovial in All-Star Game appearances and have even been connected in free agency rumors once Curry’s contract expires after next season.

So no, LeBron isn’t happy at Curry’s demise. He is, however, impressed with a second-year talent out of Murray State, and for good reason.
