Magic, Spurs come together for moving tribute to Daunte Wright (Video)

The Magic and Spurs came together Monday night for a touching tribute to Daunte Wright, who was killed by police in Minneapolis over the weekend.

The entire country is dealing with the shocking situation that took place Sunday in Minneapolis. Daunte Wright, an African-American man, was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop.

The NBA is no exception and the Minnesota Timberwolves even postponed their game Monday night against the Brooklyn Nets. Teams around the NBA are reacting to the news and the Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs provided a moving tribute before their game Monday night.

Magic and Spurs provide touching tribute

There is a general feeling of helplessness in these situations. What are NBA players to do to remedy the problem? That is more of a societal question, but a moment of silence is at least something to acknowledge the atrocity that took place.

NBA players famously took a stand last summer after the police killing of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the floor for their game against the Magic and the entire postseason could have been canceled. Ultimately, the players came together and agreed to play.

The killing of Wright is incredibly sad because it is not an isolated incident. The fact we are talking about an NBA tribute for this exact same situation once again is terrible and sad. There is no eloquent way to put it.

All professional sporting events in Minnesota were postponed Monday night and we will see when teams agree to play again. All teams outside the area can do now is continue to use their platforms to push for positive change.
