The Lakers added a new ATO play just to troll Rajon Rondo

After winning the championship, the Los Angeles Lakers had to make some adjustments and have added a new ATO play to troll former Laker Rajon Rondo.

After the intense week the Los Angeles Lakers have had in the media, they’re overdue for some fun and a little trolling. While most of the attention has been focused on the off-court incidents surrounding the Atlanta Hawks’ matchup with the Lakers on Monday night, the game did take place, ending in a 107-99 Lakers win from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The Lakers came into the game tied for second in the Western Conference while the new-look Hawks currently sit at sixth in the East. The Hawks’ new roster this season includes former Lakers point guard and NBA great Rajon Rondo. Rondo was brought in to serve as a mentor to Atlanta’s franchise Pint guard Trae Young, who finished with 25 points and 16 rebounds in the game.

The Lakers made a new play just for Rajon Rondo

Rondo is notorious for the extra care he takes in regards to preparation for practices and games. He studies scouting reports like few others and is said to want to get into coaching once he’s finished with business on the court.

In knowing this, the Los Angeles took some extra care to prepare for the fact that Rondo knows all their plays. They instituted a new ATO or “after timeouts” play, just to keep Rondo out of their playbook.

Anthony Davis took the opportunity to let Rondo know that they were ready for him. “That’s something new. You haven’t seen that one,” said Davis to Rondo during the game.

LeBron James, after getting into it with ‘Courtside Karen’ finished with 21 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds while Davis finished the night with 25 points, going 10-of-14 from the field. The Lakers are back in action on Thursday night against the Nuggets.
