LaMelo Ball had better hope he’s the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The 2020 NBA Draft is finally here. Although the draft will be held virtually, with commissioner Adam Silver in the ESPN studio to announce the first-round picks and all the draft prospects being telecasted in, that won’t stop these youngsters from showing off their best draft outfits for one of the biggest days of their lives.
LaMelo Ball, one of the top prospects in this year’s draft class and a candidate to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick, is one such player already showcasing his style with his draft-day fit.
The only problem? He’s really backed himself into a corner with the attire he chose for today.
Hopefully LaMelo Ball knows something we don’t
There’s no doubt Ball looks great, with the gold shoes making a statement matched with the black suit. He’s got the gold chain and the sunglasses to add some extra style, but as soon as he turns around, the gold design on the back of his jacket — which matches the chain — becomes clear: LaMelo Ball is very confident about where he’s being drafted, since the number “1” in smack-dab in the middle of the wings.
He could very well be this year’s top selection, but what if Ball isn’t picked first overall? What if the Minnesota Timberwolves don’t like the fit of another ball-dominant guard on a team that already has point guard D’Angelo Russell serving as Karl-Anthony Towns’ main running mate? Or what if the Wolves trade the pick to a team that would rather have Anthony Edwards out of Georgia or James Wiseman out of Memphis?
This is like when NFL fans get Super Bowl tattoos of their favorite team before said team even makes it to the big game, let alone wins it. Sure it’ll look prophetic if it comes to fruition, but it’s going to be downright embarrassing if it doesn’t happen.
Here’s hoping Ball also has jackets with the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 in his closet just in case.
