LeBron James’s latest Instagram post showed his commitment to honoring legendary Laker Kobe Bryant by recapturing the NBA title.
The external pressure on LeBron James to win an NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers was massive. The internal pressure had to be even greater.
James has made it clear how important it was to him to honor Kobe Bryant this season. He followed through on the court by leading the Lakers to an NBA Finals victory over the Miami Heat.
Now, his Instagram tribute to Bryant should hit NBA fans right in the feels.
The post includes a photo of James sitting with a No. 24 Byrant jersey draped beside him, along with a graphic of his January tweet pledging to continue Bryant’s legacy. Finally, it was all capped by the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
LeBron James honored Kobe Bryant after his Lakers NBA title
Since he was killed in a helicopter crash in January, Kobe’s figure has loomed large over the basketball world and the Lakers in particular.
The team wore Black Mamba jerseys in his honor and made it clear they were playing in his memory.
Undoubtedly, James will now look to match Bryant’s five NBA titles. He’ll get there if he delivers Los Angeles an 18th championship.
