Coby White has big plans for Bulls offense with Zach LaVine

Coby White likes playing with Zach LaVine, which is music to the ears of Bulls fans everywhere.

The Chicago Bulls have once again missed out on playoff basketball, but the young nucleus to dominate is still there, and young point guard Coby White is right at the center of it all. White averaged 13.2 points per game during his rookie season after breaking out at North Carolina, and he is eyeing even bigger things in 2020.

White went on FanSided’s “Da Windy City” podcast to discuss what he learned from his rookie year and how he can improve things in 2020. White mentioned that he is very excited to continue working with Zach LaVine, citing the chemistry they have between one another.

“I feel like we play off each other,” White said of his teammate who averaged 25.5 points per game last year. “Those last ten games, we were really difficult to guard out there. We [also] didn’t get to add Lauri [Markkanen] and Wendell [Carter] to the mix.”

White also talked up Bulls big man Lauri Markkanen, who many felt underwhelmed last year. White thinks that the Finnish star is “going to get back to” playing at his old level, adding that “everyone knows how talented he is.”

Coby White and the Bulls have a pivotal offseason ahead of them

White will be on his third different head coach in his last three seasons of basketball, as Jim Boylen was fired after a very disappointing run in Chicago. New GM Arturas Karnisovas needs to find a coach that is going to let White and LaVine cook on the floor at the same time while nourishing Markkanen. To put it nicely, Boylen was not getting that done.

White, by his own admission, has plenty to improve in his game, but the Bulls have to be pleased with how he has developed. 2020-21 might finally be the year that Chicago’s young backcourt gels and gets them back into the playoffs.

Next: Could the Bulls really trade LaVine?

Coby White spoke on behalf of Zenni, who is donating Zenni Blokz to students enrolled in the Chicago Park District and Eastern Wayne Middle School in North Carolina.
