Juan Hernangomez misses Timberwolves’ workouts to star in Adam Sandler’s new movie

Juan Hernangomez is missing workouts to be a movie star.

Juan Hernangomez was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves back in February and played with the team for about a month before the season shut down. Now he is supposed to be training with his teammates as the non-bubble teams are back at work.

But Hernangomez is not working out for a rather unique reason. Has “Adam Sandler movie” ever shown up as a reason for missing an NBA workout? It sure applies now.

Juan Hernangomez working with Adam Sandler

Hernangomez originally had the perfect plan to film the movie before NBA training camps got underway. Now the schedule has totally changed and he is off becoming a movie star. The true American dream.

Adam Sandler had gained a reputation for making some truly awful movies over the past decade. Then he starred in Uncut Gems, which featured Kevin Garnett in a key role, and that should have fans excited to see what he comes up with in this new film. Having LeBron James as a producer should mean it’s not just a throwaway money-grab.

Hernangomez may take some heat from T’Wolves fans, but the start of the season is still yet to be determined. These workouts are not mandatory either. Doing this during actual training camp would be a whole different story.

This new film is called Hustle and will hopefully feature some sort of serious plot that dives into the world of overseas scouting. If it flops, Hernangomez’s teammates will have plenty of reasons to make fun of him.

The forward showed up in Minnesota and saw a bump in playing time over his days with the Denver Nuggets. He averaged 12.9 points and 29.4 minutes per game in 14 games before the shutdown. He started all 14 of those games as well.

Next: 3 options Minnesota Timberwolves should take No. 1

The Timberwolves are in a great spot this offseason. The team owns the No. 1 pick in the draft and will feature D’Angelo Russell at point guard next season. Hernangomez taking some time to film a movie shouldn’t be a problem at all.
