The Minnesota Timberwolves gave up everything for Rudy Gobert this offseason and now they’re staring down a first round sweep at the hands of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. On Friday night the Nuggets got a 120-111 win behind a 20 point, 12 assists, 11 rebound game from Jokic who Gobert was powerless to stop.
Sunday could be the last day of the Timberwolves’ season and it could end in Minnesota. They’re home underdogs in Game 4, so let’s take a look at the odds.

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves prediction and pick
The Nuggets were seen as a flimsy No. 1 seed coming into the playoffs, but that’s not been the case at all. The Timberwolves are completely outclassed and couldn’t even take down Denver with a 36-point game from Anthony Edwards. He’ll have to carry the Timberwolves because it’s clear that Karl-Anthony Towns cannot. Towns had 27 points on 10/17 shooting, which was a good game, but he has been underwhelming this postseason.

Through these three games, the Nuggets have a 120.6 offensive rating which is third in the postseason and a 105.9 defensive rating which is fourth in the postseason and better than what they were in the regular season. The Timberwolves had one quarter where they really threw a serious punch, the third quarter of Game 2, but that isn’t sustainable for this team.
It’s clear that Minnesota has no answer for Jokic who’s averaging 20 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Plus Jamal Murray looks like himself, averaging 27.3 points in this series. Just a year after going all-in, Minnesota might have to blow it up in the offseason and shop KAT because they’re very far off.
Pick: Nuggets -3 (-112)
