The Pistons have reportedly been listening to trade offers on a number of their players. Now NBA trade rumors say a new team has expressed interest in Saddiq Bey.
According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks are interested in trading for Saddiq Bey. He has two more years left on his rookie deal and could be put a very good addition to a Knicks team that is fighting to make the playoffs and avoid the play-in.
Bey would come at a bit of a price but a lot of what could intrigue the Pistons in a potential deal with the Knicks could be trading Detroit’s own first back to them.
This would allow the Pistons to have a lot more flexibility when it comes to trading one of their first-round picks to improve their roster next season. With Bojan Bogdanovic locked up for the next two years, it might not make sense to pay Bey with Isaiah Stewart’s contract extension coming up as well. Add in a future top prospect coming in this year’s draft and Bey might be on his way out of Detroit.
What could Saddiq Bey do for the New York Knicks?
While still a great 3-point shooter, Bey has regressed since showcasing his potential in his rookie year. Even with that regression, he is still a good defender and shooter. It might make sense for the Knicks to trade for Bey as the Knicks could use another 3-and-D player.
Additionally, the Pistons may decide that Bey is not worth extending past his rookie deal and decided to deal him now rather than get over with it in the offseason. Bey would require more than just one pick protection to trade.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Pistons want an unprotected first for Bey. Adding in Detroit’s own first back to them might limit it to only a heavily protected first-round pick. It might make sense to add Cam Reddish to the deal to sweeten it. The biggest need for the Knicks is to add a star. Adding Bey will not do that, it will add another solid 3-and-D player to a team that is brimming with solid players on the squad.
