Best NBA prop bets today (Mavericks elite first quarter play against Cavs)

There are 20 NBA teams in action on Wednesday, so rather than comb through every game for prop bets, why don’t you let the BetSided team do that for you?

Peter Dewey and Ben Heisler have taken a long look at tonight’s slate, and they have a pair of picks back, including a one for the Luka Doncic-Donovan Mitchell showdown in Dallas.

  • Terry Rozier OVER 33.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)

Dallas Mavericks 1Q -0.5 (-102) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

On paper, tonight’s Cleveland Cavaliers-Dallas Mavericks matchup appears to be relatively even. Dallas is a two-point favorite at home, despite having the lesser overall record to Cleveland, but both teams often thrive in their home building.

In tonight’s case, the biggest discrepancy lies in the first quarter. Dallas enters tonight seventh in the league in first quarter net rating over the past two weeks (+22.3), and fifth overall on the season. The Mavs have also been terrific taking care of the basketball in the first 12 minutes with the second-lowest turnover percentage of any team.

Cleveland, on the other hand, has been awful of late in the first; ranked 25th out of 30 teams in net rating (-19.1) away from home with the second-worst assist percentage in the league in the early going. The Cavs also play extremely slow, playing at the second-slowest pace in the NBA.

I like the Mavs’ opportunity to get off to a good start with Luka Doncic playing the bulk of the time, as Dallas is a +12.4 efficiency differential team with him on the court. – Ben Heisler

Terry Rozier OVER 33.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)

You may be able to get this number lower than I did, as LaMelo Ball is expected to return for the Charlotte Hornets tonight, but I still think Terry Rozier is in line for a big game against the Detroit Pistons.

Rozier has been a usage machine, going OVER 33.5 points, rebounds and assists in each of his last seven games. He’s averaging 25.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game over that stretch while taking an insane 21.4 shots per game.

Ball’s return should open up some easier looks for Rozier, and the Pistons are one of the worst teams defensively and on the glass this season.

Coming into this game, Detroit ranks 29th in the NBA in defensive rating, a welcome sign for the Hornets league worst offense.

Terry is going to see plenty of touches and shots, so back him to light up this porous defense on Wednesday. – Peter Dewey
