Former NBA player Dennis Rodman is taking action to try to help Brittney Griner, and many others should follow his lead.
Former NBA player Dennis Rodman is trying to go to Russia this week to help push the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner, according to NBC News.
Rodman told NBC News, “I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl. I’m trying to go this week.” However, a senior Biden administration official doesn’t believe this will help the case.
The official told NBC News, “It’s public information that the administration has made a significant offer to the Russians and anything other than negotiating further through the established channel is likely to complicate and hinder release efforts.”
Griner’s case has caused controversy all over the country, and several lawyers and officials have continued efforts to bring her back to the US.

Griner was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison for drug possession and smuggling. However, many officials of the Biden administration and Joe Biden himself have made efforts to bring her back to the US.
According to AP News, President Joe Biden stated, “I call on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife, loved ones, friends and teammates.”
Her lawyers have also reportedly filed an appeal of the sentence. Griner deserves to be home. Even if she has to serve her prison sentence, she should be in the US near her friends, family and teammates.
