NBA schedule release 2022-23: MLK Day matchups and TV schedule

The NBA MLK Day schedule for 2023 was released with four games filling the day including marquee matchups between the Eastern and Western Conference foes.

The NBA schedule for the 2022-23 season has officially dropped with all sorts of big basketball days to get excited about as a new season approaches.

Opening day and / will always draw attention but there’s another holiday to keep an eye out for in 2023.

Martin Luther King Day on Monday, Jan. 16 will give the NBA a chance to honor the civil rights leader while delivering some great matchups.

NBA MLK Day schedule 2023: Jan. 16 games announced

  • Celtics at Hornets on NBA TV at 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Heat at Hawks on TNT at 3:30 pm. ET
  • Suns at Grizzlies on TNT at 6:00 p.m. ET
  • Rockets at Lakers on NBA TV at 10:30 p.m. ET

The day will begin on NBA TV with the Celtics taking on the Hornets to whet the appetites of basketball fans.

The Heat and the Hawks will be on the main stage on TNT in the afternoon with a rematch of the 2022 Eastern Conference First Round series, which Miami won 4-1. Jimmy Butler and company will look to repeat the feat while Trae Young will be out for revenge.

The Western Conference will bring the heat in the evening as the Grizzlies host the Suns. Last year Phoenix had the best record in the NBA at 64-18 while Memphis was second at 56-26. MLK Day is a particularly special occasion for the Grizzlies, who will play on the holiday for the 21st time while recognizing King’s legacy.

The Lakers and Rockets will wrap up the night with a matchup in Los Angeles.
