Celtics could be ruining relationship with Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics have faced a lot of controversy this season with Jaylen Brown. They could be ruining their relationship with him.

Jaylen Brown has been one of the top players in Boston since the beginning of his career in 2016. The Boston Celtics have seemingly been ruining their relationship with him over the past year.

Brown wants to remain with the Celtics, but he’s reportedly been offered to the Brooklyn Nets in a trade for Kevin Durant.

Brown didn’t seem to like the idea based on a Tweet reaction.

This may not be a great decision for the Celtics considering Brown has been to the playoffs every season of his career.

According to StatMuse, in 85 playoff games, Brown has averaged 17.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He’s progressively gotten better each season, and will likely continue to.

In 2022, he averaged (per game):

  • 23.6 points
  • 33.6 minutes played
  • 6.1 rebounds
  • 3.5 assists
  • 1.1 steals
  • 0.3 blocks

Some of his playoff results were similar to the Celtics best player Jayson Tatum. Tatum averaged 25.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals this year. Tatum was one of the biggest factors in making it to the NBA finals.

Tatum responded to the rumors about trading Brown for Durant.

“I played with [Durant] during the Olympics. Obviously, he’s a great player, but that’s not my decision. I love our team. I love the guys that we got. We got two new pieces [in Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari]. I love our team. I just go out there and play with my teammates. I don’t put that [general manager] hat on to make decisions.”  -Jayson Tatum, via CBS Sports

Brown is an asset to Boston and has proven each season he deserves to stay.
