Marcus Smart arrives for Game 2 in a decadent DPOY robe

Marcus Smart lets everyone know that he is DPOY by showing up to TD Garden with the letters on his back.

On Monday, Marcus Smart won Defensive Player of the Year and he was presented the award by Gary Payton, the last guard to win it himself. To show off his new title, Smart arrived at Game 2 in a green and black robe with the letters “DPOY”.

Smart is clearly proud of his accomplishment, and this robe lets everyone know that.

Marcus Smart is proving why he is DPOY

Last night, the Celtics took a 2-0 lead over the Brooklyn Nets and their defense contributed to that win. The Celtics were outscored in the first half but they were only down 10 points at halftime, thanks to their defense. In the second half, the Celtics had a comeback, by continuing their aggressive defense on Kevin Durant. They limited him to just 27 points on 4-of-17 shooting from the field.

Smart was a major factor in the Celtics’ second-half comeback. During the game he was mic’d up and he was heard emphasizing to his teammates to keep pushing even though they were down.

“What’s made us who we is, is our resilience and way to keep fighting. No matter what adversity is in front of us. We keep pushing.”

Smart’s teammates have always credited him as being the heart of the Celtics and last night, he proved that he is. Not only was he great defensively, but Smart also knows what to say to keep his team motivated to get a win.
