The long wait for Ben Simmons to finally suit up for the Brooklyn Nets could be coming to an end in the near future.
Ever since he finally got his wish with a trade away from the Philadelphia 76ers, Ben Simmons has been rehabbing from multiple injuries to try and get on the hardwood for the Brooklyn Nets. Now, it’s looking like his return to the hardwood could be coming soon.
According to Shams Charania, Simmons is upping his workload and there’s optimism that he could suit up for Brooklyn come the first round of the NBA playoffs.
A Ben Simmons debut for the Nets appears to be around the corner
After all the drama with Philadelphia, Simmons was of course over the moon when he got traded to Brooklyn. Unfortunately for him, Simmons has had to deal with a back and leg injury, which has prevented him from playing with his new team.
Now, the good news for Brooklyn is that Simmons is inching closer and closer to playing and the timing couldn’t be better. With how stacked this team is – including Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as fellow superstars – Brooklyn has what it takes to surprise plenty of people in the postseason.
This team is much better than its 43-38 record showcases. Brooklyn holds the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. No matter who they face in the first round, the Nets will have an upset on their minds. Getting Simmons on the floor and making plays on both ends will be massive for head coach Steve Nash.
While a set date for Simmons is yet to be announced, this latest update from Charania sure is promising. We’ll see what kind of impact Simmons will be able to have with Brooklyn from the moment he gets back in action.
