LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers

How many scoring titles has LeBron James won?

If LeBron James continues to lead the league in scoring, he will claim the second seasonal scoring title of his 19-year NBA career.

The debate continues to rage as to whether LeBron James is basketball’s GOAT, and the only thing that can strengthen his case is winning more titles.

Of course, those titles aren’t restricted to NBA Championships only. James already has a resume as one of the greatest all-around players of all time, second only to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. But after this season, James could add another stat to bolster his already decorated resume. If James continues at his current pace, he could win the scoring title for the 2021-22 season.

LeBron James could win his second career scoring title

Through mid-March, James dominates the NBA in scoring with an average of 30 points per game. The only time James won a scoring title was in the 2007-08 season, when he also averaged 30 points over the course of a season.

That year, James averaged 30.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 75 games. He was also selected to play in his fourth All-Star games, which he has now captained for several years.

Although James maintains the edge, there are two prominent big men who are just a few decimals behind. Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo are both averaging exactly 29.8, tying them behind James. If James’ performance dips even slightly, he could easily lose to either of these NBA offensive leaders.

Even if James doesn’t win, the fact that the 37-year-old power forward is averaging 30 points per game puts him in uncharted territory.

With a few more months to go, James could win his second scoring title of his NBA career, and on a struggling Lakers team in his late 30s, no less. All of this solidifies his case as one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
